		<description>It is indeed a Virginia Rail!  I sure wish it had been a Clapper, but I was pretty happy at actually seeing a Virginia rather than just hearing them all the time in the spring.  Good ID!</description>

You may not know that the Baker Wetlands are just outside Lawrence, KS.  Clapper rails are generally found on the coast---not that it couldn&#039;t happen but I&#039;m not even sure there&#039;s a KS record for a Clapper.  I can tell you that it this were a clapper, Kylee wouldn&#039;t have waited until Jan. to tell us about it....

Note the grey cheeks on this apparently adult bird....</description>
