Orchid in Flower

Early this morning I checked on one of the showy orchids–the buds were finally open.

Challenge: What’s that hairy, little thing, on the ground, in the lower right hand corner of the photo above?

Looks like you have a companion plant (Asarum-wild ginger) to that orchid. I thought at first you were in a grove of pawpaw’s and one had lost it’s bloom, except the pawpaw has more petals. Are these from Wyco Lake? I know both species occur there. Thanks for the close-up’s. I’m going to have to get back to see the orchids in Dp. Co.

Good call on the wild ginger. The flowers are at WyCo Lake. Ginger is pretty common in some of the wilder corners of Shawnee Mission Park as well. Are you on private or public ground up in Doniphan?
