In this celebratory year of the Birth\u00a0of Charles Darwin and\u00a0the publication of his\u00a0On the Origin of Species<\/a><\/em>, it is fitting that the January 1 issue of the journal Nature<\/em>\u00a0announces a document “for teachers and others wishing to spread awareness of evolution by natural selection.”\u00a0 The document is accessible at the link above,\u00a0which\u00a0forwards one to a seventeen page pdf file<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The document includes student-friendly\u00a0“editorial introductions”\u00a0to 15 papers that have been published in Nature <\/em>during the past decade.\u00a0 These papers were selected “to illustrate the breadth, depth and power of evolutionary thinking”, and cover natural selection from the perspectives of the Fossil Record,\u00a0Habitats, and Molecular Processes.\u00a0 The specific titles are given by clicking the more<\/strong> link at the\u00a0end of this post.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Each abstract is formatted to a single page, and is followed by a link to the orginal paper, links to additional resources (which may not be accessible), and a link to the website(s) of the author(s).\u00a0 For those that don’t have a subscription to the journal, many of the links to abstracts of the original research papers provide access to the full text and a freely\u00a0downloadable pdf<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0 Happy readings!<\/span><\/p>\n
