The Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is a pioneer in modern biology
\neducation. Since it’s founding in 1988, more than 8,000 teaching faculty have
\nreceived intensive training at DNALC-sponsored workshops conducted in 42
\nstates and several foreign countries. For 2008, we are offering a series of
\nexciting opportunities covering cancer, neuroscience, RNA interference,

\nAmgen Leadership Symposium In Human and Genomic Biology<\/p>\nJuly 14-August 1, 2008 – Cold Spring Harbor, NY<\/p>\n
This 3-week workshop offers advanced training for high school teachers who
\nwant to extend their leadership in biotechnology and genetics education.
\nInstruction takes place at the DNALC, and participants are housed on the
\nnearby campus of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island. Participants
\nspend their days engaged in exciting laboratories, seminars, bioinformatics,
\nand creative projects. In the evenings, they can mingle with research staff,
\nNobel laureates, and visiting scientists from around the world who are
\ncreating the gene age.<\/p>\nNote: Room, board, and a stipend are included.<\/p>\n
Genes to Cognition (G2C) Online<\/p>\n
These 1.5-day workshops introduce a unique Internet site incorporating
\nup-to-date neuroscience research, multimedia items, and interactive
\nexperiments. From molecular signals to neural circuits to anatomical
\nstructures of the brain, participants explore thinking and disorders of
\nthinking at different levels of complexity. The site offers unique learning
\naids that allow students to track their paths through the site and to build

This 1-day workshop introduces an innovative Internet site on cancer biology.
\nParticipants explore how to use authoritative content on cancer cell genetics
\nin health, general biology, and AP Biology classes and use the Teacher center
\nto build and share lesson plans with a focus on syllabus-centered instruction.
\nTeacher Center includes a database search tool for building multimedia
\npresentations, a wiki-based lesson editor, and a matrix that aligns Inside
